How Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome Develops

Tarsal tunnel syndrome usually develops as a result of a prior ankle injury like a sprained or fractured ankle. So what is Tarsal tunnel syndrome anyway? It is a rare disorder caused by damage to the tibial nerve or its “branches” and is usually due to compression as it passes through the tarsal tunnel. Tarsal tunnel syndrome can occur as a result of a trauma such as a fall or impact or overuse of the muscles and tendons that supply the muscles and bends your toes.

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome symptoms

The most common symptoms include a burning, and tingling pain at the sole of the foot and feels worse in pain when standing or during activity. Other symptoms include numbness or tingling at the base of the foot.
